Nottingham Forensic Science Course

Hello Everyone.
Welcome to my first blog.
I was inspired to create this blog whilst I was attending a Forensic Science course at Nottingham University the past two days. I took a 3 hour train journey (involving a change of trains) to Nottingham alone which was very scary. I survived though and I am more confident about travelling alone now as this has definately improved my independance.
I attended this course due to the fact that I have a strong interest in forensic science, which arose after reading several crime/thriller books by Chris Carter and other authors which give in depth information on forensic science which I find truly gripping. I love the way that forensic science combines the art of science with people and the law like no other career does.
At this course I also took part in the Edge Session lecture #edge13. This has really opened up my perspective on the world of academia and it has inspired me to reach for my dreams. I decided to take James' advice, so I am starting this blog to document the new and improved attitude I have towards my passion - chemistry.
Additionally, at this exciting course, I increased my knowledge on forensic science and learned about some of the truly amazing advancements in which we have been lucky enough to see technology progress to over the last few years. From gunshot residue of unburnt propellants to metal corrosion from fingerprints and graphology - the study of handwriting - every part of this course excited me.
However, I am also considering chemical engineering as a possible degree choice and so next week I am attending a chemical engineering course at Loughborough University and I will write about that experience when I return!
